A comprehensive website overhaul and production process to enhance community engagement, streamline operations, and support a high-traffic user base.
Challenge
Hockey Nanaimo’s website serves a diverse audience—parents, coaches, managers, referees, and league representatives. The previous site struggled with content organization, high administrative call volume, and peak traffic demands. Additionally, new programs, a key revenue source, lacked visibility. The solution needed to be intuitive, functional, and easy to maintain.
Action
- Stakeholder Research & User Needs: Met with key stakeholders to identify pain points, streamline communication, and define priorities for parents, coaches, and league representatives.
- Navigation & Information Architecture: Created wireframes to visualize site structure and conducted an information architecture mapping session to ensure intuitive content organization.
- Design & Development: Designed a high-fidelity mockup for stakeholder approval, refined content, and built a scalable, user-friendly website.
- Performance & Hosting Optimization: Consolidated SSL, domain, and hosting services onto a single Canadian provider for improved security, performance, and ease of management.
- Sustainable Maintenance & Scalability: Developed a platform that’s easy to update, ensuring long-term usability for the volunteer-driven organization.
Impact
- Increased community engagement, with clearer access to programs and resources.
- Reduced administrative workload, with self-serve information for users.
- Stronger brand presence, highlighting new programs and revenue opportunities.
